Key Features of the Panasonic CT34WX50 include: HDTV-compatible This HDTV-compatible1 34" diagonal PureFlat, wide-screen monitor, used in conjunction with an optional set top box (such as the TU-HDS20) allows you to view fabulous high-definition digital TV in 1080i and 480p formats. In order to view HDTV programming, your TV must be connected to a DTV set top box tuned to the proper channel and switched to DTV mode. A DTV signal must be present in your area. In addition, an external over-the-air antenna may be required. 34" Diagonal PureFlat Picture Tube The high-resolution, PureFlat picture tube delivers natural and accurate images from corner to corner, free from the distortion that can occur with conventional curved screens. This virtually flat screen produces minimal reflections and renders images that are clean and distraction-free—no matter where you sit in the room. 16:9 Aspect Ratio Today's conventional NTSC TV signals are transmitted with an aspect ratio of 4:3 (the squarish TV picture you are accustomed to). All HDTV and some SDTV signals will be transmitted with an aspect ratio of 16:9 (wide-screen format—like a movie theater screen). The screen of the CT-34WX50 is wider than a conventional TV screen, so it can accommodate this wide-screen format. Component Video Inputs (Y, PB, PR) Component video input consists of the luminance signal (Y) and two separate chrominance signals (PB and PR) combined. They produce outstanding resolution and color accuracy in video images. The CT-34WX50 has two sets of component video inputs through which it can accept either progressive or interlaced signals from a variety of sources. This model can accept both a DVD player and an optional DTV set-top decoder box (such as the TU-HDS20), for top-of-the-line home entertainment. AUDIO FEATURES Stereo/SAP Reception With dbx® Noise Reduction The CT-34WX50 is equipped with a built-in stereo decoder that can receive both TV stereo and Separate Audio Program (SAP) broadcasts where available. The dbx®1 noise reduction system helps give you clear, crisp sound with appropriate stereo separation. Acoustic Feedback (AFB) Dome Sound System This 2-way, 4-speaker configuration delivers powerful, dynamic bass and clear, natural sound across a broad frequency range. Woofer and tweeter units are housed in a large bass reflex box, with high-performance microphones positioned in front of the woofers to detect sound pressure levels. Any deviation in sound pressure levels is fed back to the audio amplifier, and the sound output is automatically adjusted. CONVENIENCE FEATURES 2 Tuner Picture-In-Picture Two built-in tuners with the useful picture-in-picture feature let you watch two TV programs simultaneously. Swap the main screen and inset picture at the touch of a button. You can use this feature to search your favorite channel memory, or to scan available channels in the inset picture during channel search. Split Screen Split screen divides the screen in half, down the middle, to give you yet a second option for viewing two TV programs simultaneously. In split-screen mode, each program is shown at full height, with one program on each side of the screen. Audio plays from the picture on the left. Simply use the SWAP button when you want to switch sound from one side to the other. Directorâ„¢ Lighted Home Theater Remote With Joystick The Directorâ„¢ lighted home theater remote with joystick is the only one you'll need to operate all components in your home theater entertainment system. With its lighted keypad, the remote can be easily located in darker environments.
